Juniors

We are the Junior Section of the Easthampstead Golf Club, which plays on the Downshire public golf course. We have a regular Junior evening on a Thursday night and we run regular competitions where you can qualify for a handicap or improve the handicap you already have.

As part of the Junior Section you will be able to get an official handicap which is registered with the English Golf Union. From time to time we organise coaching for members of the Junior Section with the course professionals. We also try and play in some external competitions to give you a chance to play against players from other clubs.

The Junior section contains both Junior Members and Colts. A ‘Colt’ is a Junior who having reached his 16^th birthday has a playing handicap of 24 or less. The joining fee for a Colt is higher than for a Junior and they have more opportunities to play in Senior competitions.

If you have friends wishing to join, we accept new members, boys and girls, from the age of about 12 upwards. Younger golfers are catered for by Wayne’s Golf Academy run at weekends from the pro-shop.

If you have a youngster who would be interested in joining our growing junior group then please bring them along to the Downshire Golf Shop on Thursday evening around 6.30PM.  Ask the guys in the pro shop to introduce you to one of the other organisers.
